The "Good Luck Beijing" 2007 International Baseball Tournament went well for China and Japan as they defeated France 5-1 and Czech Republic 3-2 respectively in their first round robin games today at west Beijing's Wukesong Baseball Field.
China made seven hits in the game and came from one point behind to trounce France 5-1. France only made four hits due to the performance of the China's pitchers.
In the second game today, hot seed Japan upset the powerful Czechs in two extra innings to win the 11-inning marathon game 3-2.
The Czechs opened scoring in the top of the fourth with home run 2 points.
Japan later cut the deficit to 2-1 via Yoshida Kei's homer and tied it in the bottom of the fifth.
It returned to a seesaw clash until in the second extra inning when Japan scored over a turnover by the Czech catcher. Japan outhit the Czechs 10-3 in the game.
Japan will take on France tomorrow morning while China will battle the Czech Republic in the afternoon. |
