France, in their second game of the "Good Luck Beijing" 2007 International Baseball Tournament, lost to Japan 4-3 this morning, extending their losing streak to two games after falling to host China 5-1 yesterday.
French player Gasparis Fessy said that it was a pity losing the two matches. "The two games were rather hard for us, especially the game against Japan. They are very strong and the loss makes us depressing."
His teammate Jerome Rousseau echoed and added that the Japanese were good at cooperation and "We benefit a lot from the game."
Despite the loss to Japan, France's head coach Robert Zeilstra Jefferson praised his players. He said: "We performed well and had great base runnings. It was our big mistake in the tenth inning that gave Japan the opportunity to win."
Commenting on his dissension with the referee in the fifth, he said: "The referee stopped the game when our player was still running. I thought his decision was wrong and then talked to him. Later he acknowledged it was our home base." |
