The semifinals of the "Good Luck Beijing" 2007 International Baseball Tournament concluded at west Beijing's Wukesong Baseball Field today as China and Japan defeated Czech and France respectively to cruise into the final.

After beating China 7-1 in the last group match, the Japanese players kept their forms to earn an 8-0 early lead after the fourth inning and extended it to 9-0 after six innings.

France gained 4 points in the eighth but it was too late for them to tie and rally to beat the Japanese team composed of professional players and college students.

China, in its semifinal later, also controlled the game, leading 9-1 after five innings. The Czech pitchers missed their post as China's Li Lei hit a 3-point homer in the seventh inning to call the day.

China, minus several starters in the event, has hit three homers since the beginning.

The host will take on Japan at 6 p.m. tomorrow for the title and Czech will battle France at 10 a.m. to vie for the bronze medal.
