Japan edged out China 5-2 in the final of the "Good Luck Beijing" 2007 International Baseball Tournament at west Beijing's Wukesong Baseball Field this evening.

China led 2-0 after the first inning but Japan scored 4 points in the second and gradually turned the table to win the championship.

James Lefebver commented on the game that "It's a spectacular game. We gained two points in the beginning but made two mistakes in the second and the sixth inning respectively. Contributing such a fierce competition with the Japanese team, I feel proud of my players."

After the Olympic test event, China will tour Japan and the United States to participate in various league matches, according to Lefebver.

"The overseas pitchers are very strong and we need such kind of games to improve ourselves," he said, adding "I believe we'll show a better form at the Beijing Olympic Games next year."
